Stone Sculptures

At Mabello we carry out a great number of jobs in marble and stone, nevertheless, one of the jobs where we apply all our knowledge and most hours of work is in stone sculptures.


Stone sculptures are used as decorative elements placed both in living rooms and in other rooms of the house and bring a touch of elegance to the area.


These works of art are made of resistant stone, representing elements in three dimensions, creating different shapes with volume. These are obtained after carving, sculpting, modelling and working the stone.

Types of stone sculptures

There are different models of stone sculptures depending on their shape. They can be free-standing or whole, or with relief.

Free standing or whole stone sculpture

These free standing or whole stone sculptures are those shown in three dimensions. In other words, they are worked or sculpted on all sides to create a complete sculpture. These sculptures can be placed in an area to decorate on the floor or on a flat surface. They can be seen from all angles.

Stone sculpture with relief

Stone sculptures with relief are those that are worked or sculpted on a flat surface. These we find designed on a plate creating a relief. The technique applied consists mainly in creating relief on a plate to create a sculpture with different volumes and dimensions. Stone sculptures with relief are also created on other stone elements such as chimneys, doors, stairs, columns, etc. Amongst stone sculptures with relief we find those with high relief, i.e. those that protrude more than half their size, and sculptures with low relief that protrude only half their size, i.e. barely protrude.
 
Finally, stone sculptures can have the function of ornamentation, used especially as a decorative element that can be placed in any room of the house, as monuments, representing a character or an act.
